About zig-alignBill and Chris Ziegler founded zig-align in 1987, when struggling with inevitable alignment deterioration and searching for an accurate way to make their own view camera standards at least as parallel as they were originally. They solved the view camera problem, then realized the solution could apply to other photographic equipment. Over the years, they developed unique alignment products, giving users a new standard for image accuracy. The company is located just south of San Francisco, and its entire product line focuses on systems for checking and achieving parallelism and flatness. In the beginning, using two mirrors to make alignment patterns from repeated images seemed simple. But zig-align's emphasis on offering the best products and service led to an in-depth study of how and why parallelism is important. Time marches on. As of November 2003, Bill has retired fully, so there will be no further product development. Chris is maintaining the business with a slightly reduced product line. About Our ProductsZig-align products can help you obtain the best possible results in your photographic enlargement and reproduction work. These results come from object, image, and lens planes being precisely parallel. It's a level of parallelism that your original equipment simply cannot deliver after it is shipped, set up, and used. In addition to the expected gain in uniformity of sharpness, precise parallelism also delivers the best possible lens performance. This surprise benefit is a primary reason for the profound image improvement results you can obtain with our alignment products. |
