Long ago I abandoned wiggly American enlargers because of their inability to keep lens, negative, and paper in proper alignment. With the belief that Leica and Durst had solved the alignment problems that plagued the American enlargers I had tried, I purchased four enlargers - one from Germany and three from Italy.

For quite a long time I believed the enlargers were well aligned. Another manufacture's mirror system and one of the laser systems verified what I had already concluded from inspection of my prints.

Then one of my students showed me zig-align's LED system. It seemed easy to use, logical, and very accurate. It opened my eyes, improved my alignment and changed my ideas and preconceptions about alignment.

Since the day I bought an LED enlarger system and an ease-align, I have used them every day I am in the darkroom. Because zig-align has made it so fast and easy, I always check alignment when I first set up to print. And, whenever I make major changes of enlargement size, I absolutely ALWAYS double check alignment with the LED unit.

I am convinced there is no way to make sharp prints and maximize lens performance without using zig-align.
